Job Description:

I. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead on vehicle driving

Ensure the transport of authorized passengers/luggage as per vehicle capacity and drive at allowable speed limit.
Make sure that the WV vehicle policies are followed.
Make sure that vehicle, motorbikes, motorbikes and generators’ supplies especially fuel and oils are readily available when required.
Make sure all non-World Vision visitors read and sign the child protection during the pickup, and local partners transported in WVB vehicles sign “Note de décharge de responsabilité”

Maintain vehicle fleet

To keep vehicle clean and in good working condition, and ensure vehicle tool kits (First aid kit, vehicle took kit and extinguishers) are in place.
Conduct a regular servicing, maintenance and repair work of vehicles, motorbikes and generators on identified problem and/or defects and file records of services/repairs safely in an orderly manner.
Complete Daily Fleet Management checklist on a daily basis
Report any mechanical problem of a vehicle to supervisor for repair/spare parts replacement approval.

Provide professional logistical administration

Correctly complete and record movements, fuel and tires in vehicle logbooks.
To organize and facilitate visitors’ schedules including booking for accommodation
To support department/clusters and or projects in collecting quotations from suppliers and purchase of local items and supplies.

Timely preparation and submission of monthly fuel consumption reports and vehicles’ status reports
Ensure that the vehicle has all the necessary on-board documents and keep them regularly updated.
Make sure the vehicles have a first aid kit, all safety belts are in good working condition, vehicle tool kit and fire extinguisher in place

Other duties:

Attend and participate in weekly chapel services and devotional meetings
Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
Able to deploy as required in the event of an emergency response
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or designee from time to time.

II. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualification and Experience required:

A Certificate A3 in Mechanic or a General Secondly Diploma accompanied with a mechanic training certificate
At least 5 years’ experience proven driving experience, including driving 4x4 vehicles
Experience with international NGOs

Technical Skills & Abilities:

Must hold a valid driving license category “B”
Ability to communicate in French, Kirundi and some knowledge of basic English
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all staff
Aware of security issue and strategies of response to danger.
Familiar with local road rules and travel routes in Burundi
Must be punctual and able to keep up with time.
Basic vehicle maintenance skills
Must attend devotions
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Accept to be based at field office,
Be a quick learner and responsive

III. WORKING ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:

Work environment: Field based position.
Travel: 100% domestic travels from office to communities, inter-clusters’ trip and to National office
On call: As required
